Cyber_Horus Group — Hacktivist Profile
Cyber_Horus Group is an Egypt-based hacktivist persona that defaced Ethiopian government and private-sector websites over several days in June 2020, branding the campaign Black Pyramid War and leaving Pharaonic-themed messages tied to the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam dispute. Ethiopia's national cyber agency INSA attributed the wave jointly, in a single statement, to three Egypt-based names: Cyber_Horus Group, AnuBis.Hacker and Security By Passed. Journalists who reviewed the defaced pages directly documented only the Cyber_Horus Group branding on the sites themselves, and the other two names appear solely inside that one INSA sentence, with no independent source establishing them as distinct operators or as the same crew. IntelFusions therefore carries Cyber_Horus Group alone and does not list the other two as aliases. Reporting on the episode found no evidence linking the defacements to the Egyptian state, and no activity has been documented before or since this single week in June 2020, so the persona is treated as dormant.
