Im Not Avillain — Ransomware Profile
Im Not Avillain is an extortion crew that came to public attention in September 2026 over a claimed theft of Revolut customer records. Per Financial Times reporting carried by Crowdfund Insider and Silicon Republic, the group said it used a compromised Italian government email account to pose as law enforcement and send fraudulent information requests, which the bank fulfilled over several months. SecurityWeek places the abused mailbox at the Italian Interior Ministry, puts the exposure at roughly 680 account holders reported to be large cryptocurrency holders, and records a further claim of 147GB taken from Italian law enforcement. The crew publicly demanded about 3 million dollars in Monero within 24 hours. Revolut says it had no direct contact from the group and that its own systems and customer funds were unaffected. It was first observed on its data-leak site in September 2026.
