Tonga operates CERT Tonga under the Ministry of Meteorology, Energy, Information, Disaster Management, Environment, Climate Change and Communications, supported by Australian capacity building programs. The National Cybersecurity Framework, approved in January 2022, establishes a whole-of-government approach covering incident management, digital forensics protocols, and mandatory reporting requirements. Tonga participates in APCERT and the Pacific Cyber Security Operational Network. Submarine cable connectivity is the country's critical digital chokepoint, making physical infrastructure disruption a primary national risk.
