Mauritius — Cyber Threat Profile

Mauritius operates one of Africa's most developed national cybersecurity frameworks. CERT-MU, legally mandated under the Cybersecurity and Cybercrime Act 2021, coordinates incident response, runs regional cyber drills, and manages MAUSHIELD, the national threat information sharing platform. In February 2023, CERT-MU was designated an ITU Academy Training Centre for Africa. Over 5,000 cyber incidents were reported in 2024, including hacking, phishing, sextortion, and malware, with threats increasingly migrating to social media platforms. The 2025 national budget funded a new Cyber Security Operations Centre.
