Marshall Islands — Cyber Threat Profile

The Marshall Islands has one of the most limited cybersecurity postures in the Pacific, with no enacted cybersecurity legislation and no operational CERT. A draft Cybersecurity Act is under development, supported by a US State Department-funded capacity building program aimed at developing government-wide security standards and a cyber-ready workforce. The country participates in the Pacific Cyber Security Operational Network. Its decision to pursue a sovereign digital currency creates novel financial attack surfaces that current governance structures are poorly equipped to manage.
